Weird Animals - Cama

Have you ever heard of a Cama? the first Cama was produced by the Camel Reproduction Center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on January 14, 1998. It was created by artificially inseminating a female lama with the sperm of a male camel.

The center had to do it this way because the breeding of a male lama to a female camel proved unsuccessful, and the male camels were too large to breed with a female camel. So far the center has created four Camas, but the results have been disappointing.

The whole reason that the Cama was created was because the camel has very bad behavior and extremely poor temperament, where as the lama is just the opposite. So they thought if they created this hybrid animal that they could get the size and strength of the camel and the behavior of the lama. Unfortunately this was not the case because the Cama has just as poor a temperament as the camel.
